Irvine, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2014

With 2014 shaping up to be one of the driest on record in the southwest, the non-profit Wyland Foundation and its partners will launch a water conservation tour across four states to promote the future sustainability of this indispensable limited resource.

Starting March 10 and continuing through April 22, the Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Experience, a 1,000-square foot interactive exhibitive featuring a 40-person multisensory theater and interactive touchscreens, video microscopes, computer model simulations, a running river and actual rain falling over model city landscapes, will travel to areas across the southwest that are currently faced with growing water scarcity, including Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and southern California. Over 500,000 visitors have toured the exhibit since 2007.

"Climate change, drought, crumbling infrastructure and our increasing demand for water have created a situation where our communities need every resources they can get to promote conservation," said Wyland, president and founder of the Wyland Foundation. "This exhibit goes directly into areas of the community where it's needed most."

The water conservation tour is in support of the upcoming National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation, April 1-30, a non-profit, community-based competition between cities to see who can be the most "water wise." Presented nationally by the Wyland Foundation and Toyota, with support from the U.S EPA’s Office of Water, National League of Cities, U.S. Forest Service, Toro Company, Wondergrove Kids, Bytelaunch, and WaterSmart Software, mayors nationwide are encouraged to challenge their residents to conserve water, save energy, and reduce pollution on behalf of their city at http://www.mywaterpledge.com throughout the month of April.
