Drunk driving can have fatal consequences and cannot be tolerated in Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas car accident lawyer Matthew E. Aaron of Aaron & Paternoster, Ltd.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) August 21, 2013
Las Vegas car accident attorney Matthew E. Aaron today said a recent Las Vegas car accident that police say was caused by an intoxicated driver illustrates the deadly consequences of drunk driving.
According to a KSNV News 3 report (“Man arrested for DUI in accident that injures himself, 3 others,” August 10), a California man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when running a red light and crashing his car into an SUV, causing serious injuries to himself, his passengers, and the driver of the SUV he hit.
“The dangers of drunk driving are well documented. Drivers are much more likely to run red lights, disobey speed limits, and make dangerous decisions behind the wheel after they’ve had too much to drink,” said Aaron, whose firm represents people injured in accidents and families who lost loved ones due to negligence. “The news report states that both drivers and passengers sustained serious injuries in this recent accident. Unfortunately, this type of scenario happens too often in Las Vegas. Drivers need to make the responsible decision of not getting behind the wheel if they have had too much to drink, and we support efforts by lawmakers and law enforcement to keep drunk drivers off the road.”
The KSNV article states that the accident, which happened shortly before 6 a.m. on August 10, occurred after a Honda Odyssey ran through a red light and struck a Dodge Caravan, causing the minivan to flip over onto its side.
Police reports indicate that the Honda Odyssey driver who ran the red light failed a field sobriety test at the scene of the accident, the article stated. The driver of the Caravan suffered severe injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma after being extricated by emergency personnel, according to KSNV.
“Drunk driving accidents often cause catastrophic, potentially fatal injuries that change the lives of accident victims forever,” Aaron said. “Intoxicated drivers need to be held accountable for their careless decisions. That’s why a personal injury lawyer can be a great asset to a victim or a victim’s family. An attorney can protect the rights of the injured and help send a message that drunk driving will not be tolerated in our society.”
