As auto-show season kicks into gear—au revoir, Paris, yo, L.A.!—there’s one show that’ll top them all for straight-up automotive nonsense: SEMA. The Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas is one of our favorite fall staples, and it’s coming up fast. Several major manufacturers will join legions of tuners, parts makers, and shops on the show floor, and Chrysler (or Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, to be more exact) will join the party. Unfortunately, we don’t yet know specifics about the cars it will showcase, but FCA’s Mopar parts and accessories division has released a batch of previews of vehicles it’s helping with, and some look intriguing.Do the terms T/A, ACR, or Scorpion mean anything to you? They should. The first, T/A, is a moniker used for high-performance Dodge rides. The letters stood for Trans-Am (as in the racing series, not the Pontiac) on the 1970 Challenger, and the SRT folks revived TA for a “Time Attack” Viper. Now, Mopar says a Challenger T/A “concept” is headed to SEMA. Considering that Tommy Kendall drove a Challenger in the modern Trans-Am series just this year and that the teaser sketch seems to use the same shade of lime green as his race car, this could be good.Next up is ACR, a name that was assigned to the previous-generation Dodge Viper SRT‘s balls-out track model. ACR stands for American Club Racer; this, too, is being teased as a show car, but if we had to guess, a production version would be a no-brainer for Dodge, which is struggling to sell Vipers as-is. One other highlight-worthy name tossed in among Mopar’s SEMA-bound wares is Scorpion, a tab that appears in Fiat tuner Abarth’s history on a smattering of “Scorpione” models. Here, it’s assigned to some sort of Fiat 500 Abarth. Presumably, it’s got a sharper sting.
