Southwest Airlines and Virgin America launched new long-distance routes from Dallas Love Field on Monday. The opening marks the end of the Wright Amendment, the decades-old law that had prohibited flights out of the airport in order to protect Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Love Field, which is home base for Southwest and something of an experiment for Virgin, is located closer to downtown Dallas, making the airport more convenient for business travelers
