Fans have until 10 August to email the DJ, arguing why they should be the lucky couple
Tiësto wants to marry you. The star DJ has launched a contest for amorous fans, proposing to officiate a wedding during a Los Angeles rave.
"Hey! Which couple wants me to marry them in Las Vegas on August 17th?" Tiësto wrote on Facebook. "Are you going to be in Vegas that day? Are you ready for Tiësto to perform your marriage ceremony?!?!?" Fans have until 10 August to email entry@inthebooth.com with the story of their relationship in order to prove their love is worthy of his matrimonial services. The hashtag #inthebooth is also being used to promote the competition via Twitter.
It's certainly a publicity stunt, but Tiësto isn't shy about using cheap tricks. Earlier this week, the Dutch disc-spinner told fans he will only release a new trance album if they vote for him in DJ Magazine's best DJ poll – and even then, only if he reaches No 1. "Maybe if you made a full trance album you'd make No 1," quipped one reader.
So far, fans don't seem to be falling over themselves to get married at a massive club full of strangers. On Twitter, Tiësto's #inthebooth hashtag is mostly being used by EDM outlets promoting the contest. Still, at least a few singletons are hoping to find a sweetheart just so they can get closer to their favourite DJ: "So …" wrote @RachCamp88, "who wants to marry me?"
As for Tiësto himself, the 44-year-old was previously engaged to model Stacey Blokzijl. She reportedly broke off the engagement in 2008, blaming Tiësto's "busy schedule".
Best known for his trance music, Tiësto topped DJ Magazine's iconic poll in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Reported by guardian.co.uk 5 days ago.
