Pat Riley, LeBron James, Miami Heat, NBA
Has Been Optimized
Pat Riley has been challenging The Big Three to return to Miami next season for another title run. Riley and James are scheduled to meet today in Las Vegas, where James is currently holding his basketball camp, the LeBron James Skills Academy.
James’ agent has already spoken with representatives of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Lakers. However, today is the first day James will actually meet with someone from a team’s front office.
After losing to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2014 NBA Finals, Pat Riley had his work cut out for him if he wanted to bring back LeBron, as well as Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. It can be assumed that Riley will tell LeBron that he and the rest of the Heat organization are in the midst of building a better team in Miami, pointing to recent additions Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger as examples.
However, with Bosh weighing an offer to play in Houston on a maximum contract, time may be running out for Riley and the Heat. Further, it is rumored James spoke with Mike Miller and a couple other past teammates about joining him on another team next season if James were to leave Miami. If true, Riley would very likely feel greater pressure during the meeting.
Clearly, LeBron wants to win another championship as soon as possible. As time goes on, it seems that the likelihood of LeBron leaving Miami continues to increase. Cleveland, the only other city in which James has played, becomes even more popular when guessing where LeBron will land.
Pat Riley is said to be a master when negotiating with players. Heat fans can only pray this is true.
