ACE Releases a Two Part Video Series on Accreditation; Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Accredited by ACE
Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 26, 2014
A two video series: Why we Accredited our Cardiac Cath Lab with ACE, taped during the 2014 Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Sessions in Las Vegas, NV, will be released this week. The videos review the benefits of ACE accreditation and the value of investing in accreditation services for the cardiac cath lab from the perspective of physicians who have worked with ACE.
In the first video, Peter Block, MD, FSCAI, of Emory University Hospital, discusses the importance of ACE accreditation and the value of expert external peer review. The ACE process, called Quality Review, encourages systematic improvements in documentation, leading to better performance and outcomes.
In the second video, Marcus St. John, MD, FSCAI, of Baptist Health South Florida, offers his insight on the value of ACE accreditation, including how to justify the costs associated with accreditation. Dr. St. John also discusses the SCAI Quality Improvement Toolkit (SCAI-QIT), a comprehensive collection of tools that international cardiologists and their cath lab teams can use to support their quality improvement efforts.

In other news, The Heart Institute at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, has achieved distinction as the latest cardiac cath lab to accomplish accreditation with ACE. As the first hospital in Palm Beach County to perform open heart surgery, The Heart Institute at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center remains one of the leading heart hospitals on the Treasure Coast, having completed more than 16,000 open heart surgeries and more than 100,000 cardiac catheterizations to date.
“We are committed to delivering the highest quality care possible to each of our patients,” said Larry Coomes, Chief Executive Officer at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. “ACE accreditation is validation that patients do not need to travel out of state for expert cardiac care,” Coomes said.
About Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE)
ACE, an independent organization sponsored by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF), offers independent evaluation and monitoring of facilities that provide cardiovascular care. By reviewing facility and operator performance and comparing clinical decision-making to nationally accepted best practices; ACE quality review and accreditation services play a critical role in continuous quality improvement programs.
