Palacios brings 20 years of transportation experience in the planning and design of complex infrastructure projects

HNTB Corporation, a national infrastructure solutions firm with nine offices in California, has hired Michael Palacios, PE, as vice president and West Division operations officer, responsible for HNTB’s offices in California, Utah, Oregon and Washington state. Palacios brings nearly 20 years of experience in the planning and design of transportation infrastructure, as well as operations and strategic business development, from prior work in California. He is based in the firm’s San Diego office.

In his most recent role as vice president and San Diego area manager for Parsons Brinckerhoff, Palacios managed an office of more than 70 multidisciplinary professionals, working on various rail, transit and aviation projects with numerous transportation agencies throughout the region. Palacios is a registered professional engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
He is actively involved with the San Diego chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar, serves as co-chair of the Transportation Committee for the American Council of Engineering Companies California San Diego Chapter, and is a member of the California Department of Transportation District 11 Calmentor Steering Committee.
Celebrating a century of service, HNTB recently completed work on the first Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Platinum-certified commercial airport terminal in the world, the San Diego International Airport Green Build, also known as Terminal 2 West. Today the firm is providing engineering and design services on some of the most complex and highly visible transportation infrastructure projects in California, including the positive train control program management for the North County Transit District, the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement for the City of Los Angeles and the Interstate 405 Improvement Project for the Orange County Transportation Authority.
