Black Flag are hitting the road with their latest singer, professional skateboarder Mike Vallely. The seminal hardcore band's Victimology Tour follows in the wake of a tumultuous year complicated by dueling reunions, lawsuits, and the on-stage firing of the last Black Flag vocalist, Ron Reyes. Vallely's most recent official stint with the band was a series of benefit dates back in 2003. This time around, guitarist Greg Ginn can boast of being both headliner and opening act: his psychedelic electronica act HOR will provide support on the tour, along with Brooklyn punk duo Cinema Cinema.
In a press release, Ginn calls Vallely "the perfect frontman to capture what Black Flag was, is and will be.” The new vocalist has made a statement affirming the new tour:
“I’m excited about performing songs from the entire Black Flag catalog. I feel confident in my ability to communicate the songs — To give them their due respect and yet still make them my own. Ginn’s songwriting is truly timeless and it gives all of the material relevance right here, right now.”
The band plans to add more dates soon; in the meantime, check out the list of confirmed dates below.
