Cadillac announced that the upcoming 2015 ATS coupe will include OnStar 4G LTE as well as the CUE suite of applications when it appears in dealerships later this summer. AT&T will be the provider for the high-speed service.
Chevrolet announced the technology earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The new, faster service will enable what Cadillac is calling the CUE Collection, its version of Chevy’s AppShop, a new marketplace for the in-car tech. Users will access the store via the CUE’s touch screen and will be able to download apps such as iHeartRadio, The Weather Channel, NPR, and Slacker Radio, among others.
The ATS coupe will also include Siri Eyes Free for users of iPhones with iOS 6 and iOS 7. Users will be able to connect with Siri Eyes Free using Bluetooth, pair with the system and use the steering-wheel-mounted voice-activation button to control interactions. Passengers will also be able to access the internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot, which can accommodate up to seven devices—the coupe’s seating capacity of four be damned.
We imagine that the system will operate in much the same way as Apple’s CarPlay, announced earlier this month at the Geneva auto show. Not to get all up in the ATS coupe’s grille, but the Ferrari FF will offer CarPlay as will the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-class, the 2015 Volvo XC90, and a host of other manufacturers later this year.

· 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe: No Surprises
· Instrumented Test: 2014 Cadillac ELR
· Get Smart: Audi’s Smart Dashboard Dissected
--------------------
The ATS coupe will be among the first of future Cadillac models to feature the technology; it will join the 2015 models of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Impala, Malibu, and Volt as they become available. The rest of the Cadillac lineup will receive 4G LTE connectivity and the CUE Collection as Cadillac launches 2015 models.
Data packages and pricing will be announced later this year. We expect them to be competitive with the 4G LTE connectivity of the upcoming 2015 Audi A3 sedan, which will include a six-month free trial period. After that, A3 owners will have two plans to choose from: a six-month plan for $99 with 5 gigabytes of data, or a 30-month plan that includes 30 gigs for $499. AT&T also will be the provider for Audi; the A3 sedan goes on sale later this month. Reported by Car and Driver 6 hours ago.
