A long range thermal imaging rifle scope that is affordable for hunters and law enforcement professionals has finally entered production. The PAS-15 LRTS (Long Range Thermal Scopes) will enable shooters to acquire targets with greater clarity and at greater distances than existing scopes. SPI CORP will be accepting pre-order sales on their new affordable long range thermal rifle scope with initial deliveries estimated to begin in early April.
Since 1997 SPI CORP has manufactured, designed and distributed thermal imaging scopes, infrared cameras and night vision technology. The PAS-15 LRTS is their latest thermal rifle scope offering and is the result of years of feedback from Law Enforcement, Military and Hog Hunting customers. SPI Corp envisions the PAS-15 as the first affordable thermal sniper scope on the market.
"We listened to our customers," explains Randall Kolchins, Director, SPI CORP. "Time and again they told us that they wished they had just a little more range out of their thermal scope. Both law enforcement professionals and hunters said that with current scopes they just didn't have the confidence to take a shot at any real distance." A survey of the marketplace shows affordable thermal rifle scopes are typically claimed to have a power somewhere between 1x and 6x. The PAS-15 is said to have up to 18X power. "We took a long time to get this right," continued Mr. Kolchins. "We knew that our customers wanted long range but they didn't want to pay the cost of typical military sniper scopes." Military scopes that are considered "long range" typically have optical ranges of 3x or 4x and can cost up to $25,000. "It was challenging to create a product that could offer the range and clarity our customers demand while keeping the cost down to a reasonable level but boy did we do it!" Mr. Kolchins exclaimed.
Development of the PAS-15 began over a year ago. Extensive testing and beta feedback helped SPI CORP achieve the goal of creating a long range thermal rifle scope that is rugged and affordable.
